Leading provider of life insurance and pensions in Ireland, Royal London Ireland has appointed Brian O’Connell to its Sales team as Senior Broker Consultant for the Limerick and Clare region. Brian brings over 23 years of experience in financial services, having built his career across protection, investments, retirement planning, and broker support focused on helping brokers grow their businesses, improve client conversations, and access consistent, high-quality technical support.

Brian began his professional journey with Hibernian Life and Pensions, where he spent seven years advising clients on long-term financial planning and developing a strong foundation in customer-focused service delivery. Over the past 16 years, he has held a series of broker-facing roles with an Irish life and pension provider, building his expertise in protection solutions, PRSA and pension planning, and intermediary support. Brian also holds the Qualified Financial Adviser (QFA) designation in Life and Pensions from the Life Insurance Association (LIA).

In his new role, Brian works closely with brokers to deliver protection and pension solutions, providing hands-on guidance across case management, product suitability, service navigation, and business development. He also collaborates with Royal London Ireland’s underwriting, technical, and service teams, acting as the key point of contact for brokers to ensure a seamless experience for their clients.

Based in Dublin, Royal London Ireland, is a leading provider of life insurance and pensions and a wholly owned subsidiary of The Royal London Mutual Society Limited, the UK’s largest mutual life, pensions and investment company.

Commenting on his appointment, Brian O’Connell said:

“I’m delighted to be joining Royal London Ireland and to be working with brokers in Limerick and Clare to help them achieve the best results for their clients. Throughout my career in financial services, I’ve seen how a strong, reliable relationship between a broker consultant and a broker can make a real difference, providing clarity, guidance, and peace of mind for their clients, while also helping brokers grow their business.

“Having competed against Royal London Ireland over the years, I’ve seen first-hand why they are regarded as a leader in the protection market, with a consistently strong reputation for service and underwriting quality. The recent launch of their PRSA contract has been a game-changer, driving significant growth in the broker support base and generating real momentum in the market.

“What really stood out for me, though, is the consistency of their service levels and the genuine focus on supporting brokers. That emphasis on partnership and reliability was a key reason I wanted to join their team”.

Daragh Feely, Sales Director at Royal London Ireland, added:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Brian O’Connell to the Royal London Ireland team as Senior Broker Consultant for Limerick and Clare. Brian brings over two decades of experience in financial services, with a strong focus on protection, pensions, and working closely with brokers.

“His practical knowledge and hands-on approach make him a perfect fit for our business. We are confident that Brian will play a key role in strengthening our relationships with brokers in the region, helping them provide the best outcomes for their clients.”
